Well you certainly caught their attention Richard. Although the windows above put a context into the composition I also think it looks good cropping them out. Just a thought. But I know you are also particularly interested in subtle tints and tones.

Hi Richard - yes, not a smile in sight, although I am a bit scary in real life.

You are 100% correct about the windows. However in this sort of photo (which is never going to be sold as a fine art print, lets face it) I tend to err on the side of leaving the photo as captured, although a cropped horizontal format would work better. This was taken with a Rolleiflex 2.8c, and the square format was what I saw. At the time I liked the feeling that we are in a high barn of a building. The low viewpoint which you get with a TLR at waist level is I think also an important factor here.

Le format original de la photo : ce carré est tout à fait satisfaisant, intellectuellement parlant.
J'avais publié une photo en B&W d'une station de métro et le format plus trapu < mon bridge / un reflex m’avait autorisé une compo qui me plaisait beaucoup. Recadrer est beaucoup moins satisfaisant. Il me semble que lorsque l'on prend une photo on la prend comme on la sent. Au feeling.

(Pour une fois, tu n’étais pas invisible, ou bien pas assez patient pour le devenir. Sans doute d’ailleurs est ce le fait d’attirer l’attention unanimemnt vers toi qui t’a plu, ici)
